Exclamation Unable to open pictures
I put an SD card in my HP camera that had originally been used in a Canon DV camcorder. I did not know that I needed to format it in my camera before I used it. I can display the files off the card on my computer, but when I try to open them I get this message: This is not a valid JPEG-JFIF file. I hope someone can come up with a solution as these pictures are very important to me.

"I can display the files off the card on my computer"

the thumbnail view? you tried to open the images directly off the card? Did you try copying it to your HardDrive and then open it?

Yes, I saved the images to my hard drive and tried with every program I have & got the same message. Then I downloaded a program, XN View & tried with it. No luck. When I select the thumbnail view, it only shows the paint shop pro icon (this is where I direct all photo images to open).
Thanks for responding.

Try irfanview, http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm
It will sometimes work when all else has failed.

What are the size of these files.
Right click one of them and have a look at properties.

Size 773 KB & it gives the time & date it was taken. Also, when you take a picture it flashes in the view finder, but when you try to review them, the camera cannot access them either. And have tried directly from the camera to the computer too.

Its Sounds like all the info is there but not in a recognizable file type. The quick flash you are seeing is probably from the cameras on-board memory just before it writes to the sd card where it turns corrupt.
