Question Trouble keeping my screen's picture settings (brightness, contrast, etc. With NVIDIA)
I've had a lot of problems with this computer's graphics and stuff being way too dark despite my monitor settings(that I set with the little wheel thingy on the monitor) of brightness and contrast being all the way. I could not figure out how to make the picture better after a lot of searching, but I tried again recently and found where to go (see first pic).

So I adjusted that stuff until I got it good. Then I saved it and checked the apply at startup box. But the problem is, it wouldn't apply the settings at startup. They were saved and everything and the box would still be checked, but the picture wasn't what I saved it as. All I'd have to do though is just select what I saved from the drop-down box but shouldn't it already be applied all the time? I'm guessing I'll have to adjust something in my System Config Utility in System Information but I dunno so I'm asking you.

Since nobody else seems to have a good idea I’ll try a mediocre one. Did you select “Apply” before you selected “OK”?

yes, I did. I've also tried not checking the box. Nothing has worked.

I’ve had video cards that loaded their own controller. Maybe it is overriding the Windows settings on boot. They usually put an icon in the tray if they have something like that. Might be worth a look.

Have you tried using the "Save As..." option and giving the color profile a name and saving it? (This seems unlikely to me, but I'm an ATI guy.)

yea. See my picture. I saved it as "brighter/clearer" and clicked Apply and OK.

LOL. I should have known that title wasn't from NVidia. Are you using an account with Admin privileges?

If I click on the little icon next to PT I get this little box. “Save as a scheme” might work. There is a dialog box with many more options under “Intel ® Extreme Graphics in Control Panel. You might look there for the controller installed by the video card.

First of all to let you know. I have Windows 98. Secondly, I don't have the same Intel video thing as you. Mine is with NVidia Vanta blah blah. Whatever, as you can see in my earlier pics. I'll keep digging in that nvidia nView. Here is my control panel:

Try going to the settings through the Display applet, Settings, Advanced button. Click Apply all the times it appears, even after closing the NVidia tabs.

no luck. I guess I'll probably have to try to contact nvidia and ask them. Any more ideas would be appreciated though.

Though this is not one of the problems that have been reported recently with NVidia's new driver, if you have updated it recently, you might consider uninstalling and downloading and installing an older driver to see if that helps.
