Quick Image cropping/resizing program?
Hi!

I'm looking for a basic program that would allow me to crop and resize photos, decently and fastly.

I am an Photoshop user, but it takes forever to open (not forever, but you get the idea ) and there are times when I just want to resize really quick for an e-mail. I like the cropping feature in Picasa, but there isn't too much of a choice in the resize department. I was using the powertoys resizer, but often it distorts the photo.

I appreciate any input!
Thanks!
Erin

If you have to crop to a certain size or proportion this is a nice little freeware: http://ekot.dk/programmer/JPEGCrops/

The crop tool is always active in Irfanview unlike Photoshop. Just drag a box and Edit>Crop Selection.

Some photos would become really pixelated. I would be going from full size - 2304x1728 to their small size (640x?). Often the face would become distorted, like it was blurred a bit. I only noticed because of my experience using PS.

Thanks for the name of the program! Much appreciated!!!

Thank you so much! I love progams, so I'm always glad to learn of good, useful ones.

I second the Irfanview recommendation.

Some cameras make small copies.
My Nikon camera has a feature that will make a small copy of a photo taken, so perhaps your does, too. That will make it easier because when you transfer the photos to the computer, you'll have a small as well as the large--no editing necessary!
