Choose the pen tool, line tool or shape tool. The freeform pen tool works for drawing.
Go to the options bar and make sure paths is active. It is the second box.
Draw your curved path.
Select the horizontal type tool.
When you type it will follow the path. You have to get your cursor right on the path and get a little line to show it will follow the path.

When you select create new path in the paths pallette the path disappears and you just have the lettering on the path.

You can check "Magnetic" in the options bar and the pen tool will follow something you have already drawn if it has good contrast.

Text on the path
Hola
Are you using the "Warped Text" tool?

To make your text follow "any" path. the easies way is to make 2 paths. One for what you want, and one for the text. Get it?

Good luck

Nice graphics
