pictures to big
i don't know much about my digital camera. i just take pictures with it download to my pc, kook at em,e-mail em, print em out etc. yesterday i tried to post a picture on a forum and it kept rejecting it saying the file was too large. i downsized it as small as i could under my pictures in win xp but it still wouldn't take it. how do you shrink the files? the forum said the biggest they could be was 75kb. my picture was 900 kb. thats a lot of downsizing. i've never had this problem before and have sent many pictures to similar places.

also how is the picture or file size determined. i take all the pictures the same. what makes one larger than the other? i'm totally confused on this and would like to learn a little about it.

the number of pixels in the file
for web use i use around 600 pixels as it will then be seen on screens set to 800x600 pixles
so gointo a resizer and change the picture pixels down to 600 for the longest side, this will reduce the file size - BUT make a copy first as you will not be able to print this small size.

what image editor do you have
there are free ones such as irfanview also XP has a free resizer

post back if need more detailed explanation

i don't have a clue what to do. where is a resizer in windows xp. that would be a start. hopefully i can take just one picture out of my pictures folder and work with it. i've never run into this before so i don't even know where to look. i looked at irfanview a little and there's way more stuff in there than what i need. i just want to be able to downsize pictures when i run into that problem

Ok do you have windows XP if so
download this
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx
ImageResizer.exe
521 KB 2 min @ 28.8 Kbps
now you can right click on a picture and choose resize
then click on the small 640x480 option and its down
make sure in the advanced option that resize original is not checked otherwise you will lose your original and not be albe to print
