corrupt 512 sd sandisk memory card
Is there any way I can recover European vacation shots of London and Paris after my memory card corrupted? Pentax Optio Si5 worked fine with 512 sandisk memory card then wouldn't allow me to even turn camera off. Took out the card and everything is fine (bougth a Lexmar 512) but would like to retrieve pictures on the corrupt sandisk. Took it to a photo lab and they said they couldn't do anything. Originally from Canada, but working in India for next six months and technical support for cameras is minimal. ANY suggestions would really be appreciated as pictures hold a strong sentimental value. Thanx in advance for anyone who takes the time to help.....

PS Tech at Heathrow airport said the larger sandisk cards were causing many problems. Is there a "lifespan" for a memory card because I seem to reading about a number of people having trouble after just a few months?

This is supposed to be a forum for free help Mr. Roberts...

Do you have a card reader on your pc? I've had some trouble with memory cards and I have always been able to fix it with a disk doctor or other data recovery program.
Maybe you have a friend with a card reader? I haven't seen a single memory card that actually broke down in such an early stage, they should have quite a high life expectancy.

Cheers
