Can someone suggest a really good slide show program
I used to use Kai's Power Show, a really snazzy slide show program with terrific transitions and graphic effects. it would do an instant slide show in about a minute with however many slides you wanted to use.

However, it's past its prime and won't really work with Windows XP. Can someone suggest a really fun AND SIMPLE slide show program that doesn't cost too much? I teach, and making instant slide shows is a great tool to have; I do NOT want to spend hours preparing them; this is not for business use.

thanks!

I have Windows XP home, office xp suite, plenty of power and memory and disc space

IrfanView does very basic slide shows. It is free and quick to use.

Photo Story 3 for Windows
In a few simple steps, you can import and edit your pictures, add titles, record narration, add background music, and save your story.

I tried Photo Story 3 and it will be fine. I will use it for now, and THANK YOU for the suggestion!

still...it would be great if I could find a program (I don't mind spending money as long as it's not a fortune) that will do automatic transitions, etc, so that it's even easier. Also, Kai's has the most dazzling and colorful transitions imaginable...any ideas?

Glad to hear that you like Photo Story. Pinnacle Instant PhotoAlbum is also fairly good. I'm using version 1.2.11 and there is an option that will do automatic transitions. I'm sure there is a more recent version that may be a lot better. I can't recall what I paid, but it was not a fortune.

The best one I can find after checking out about fifty of them is XATShow at XAT.com
It has all of the features all of the better ones have and enables you to burn slideshows to CD's or DVD's, watch them on your TV, or send them to friends who can watch the shows without any special software. Also each slideshow can be turned into a screensaver as well after it is created, complete with pics and as many music tracks (MP3s) as you desire. The standard edition is the best value, although, I beleive they have a freeware edition with less features. Paul

thanks again.

I've read some reviews on Pro Show Gold that say it can have difficulty recognizing a CD drive...several users complained of this...have you had that issue at all?
