Help needed from Photoshop 7 experts
Hey guys, I appreciate if you are well-versed with Photoshop and able to help me out.

I am trying to do a brochure with Photoshop 7, but when I set my work in psd form to print, it doesn’t really print the whole thing out as what I have layed out nicely on the A4 sized psd. Tried messing with the print preview options, but it’s either I blow everything to about 138% and get my top and bottom of my work truncated, or I “scale to fit media” to about 68% but everything will be squeezed towards the centre.

Any idea how to resolve this? I have laid out my work nicely so preferably I do not wish to make any changes…

Thanks in advance.

I'm not familiar with Photoshop but I use Paint Shop Pro for similar projects. It sounds like your layout for your page is not right for the output you desire. What I do is make myself a template of the correct size of the paper I am going to print on, therefore when printing on it, I already know how it is going to come out. I would guess that the width of your page is too narrow for the length of your paper. Even though you "have laid out my work nicely so preferably I do not wish to make any changes…", you are going to have to edit it again before printing.

Go Image>Image Size. Make the units in mm. You should be seeing 210 in one dimension and 297 in the other. If not, you don’t have an A4 sized document in the first place.

If you can distort the document some, uncheck “Constrain Proportions” and set the right dimensions.

If it doesn’t look right sized to A4, File>New. Make the document 210 X 297mm (assuming your printer does borderless), RGB 8 bit color, 300 PPI (or whatever PPI you are currently working with) and white background. You can drag the elements from your current document into the one with the correct dimensions. You can use Edit>Transform to make the elements of the old document fit into the new document.

If your printer doesn’t do borderless leave some space around the document edges or reduce the document size based on the margins the printer requires.

If your document is currently 297 X 210 mm you either have landscape or portrait set wrong or the printer properties has a scale factor.
