Unhappy picture DVD burning
Hi. I am trying to burn a CD of a slideshow from Jasc After Shot (older Paint shop program from Corel) Anyway, it USED to give me an option to click on one of my DVD drives but now they aren't listed. I've tried everything but nothing is working. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program once already. ANyway, I then go ahead and switch over to creating the DVD with my Roxio DVD creator and for some dang reason, it puts the pictures in alphabetical order (according to titles I gave photos) and as you can imagine, it is really ticking me off because it wreaks havoc on the correct order. I can't seem to find where the dogdirt to go to get them out of alphabetical order?? It's really frustrating. I even bought the New Paint shop pro x today-but am afraid if it's something my computer is doing--what if it does it to the new program, too?? ANOTHER ?- do you recommend another program for editing and generally cataloging photos over what I bought? Does one come with the capabilities of putting music to the slideshow that you know of? I do like to edit and generally play around with fine tuning my photos so I'd like the best program before I open this $80 Paint Shop pro x if it's not the favorite. Thanks! Lisa

Firstly, paint shop pro is an excellent photo editor. The new version 'x' (10) is supposed to be easier to use for novices too as opposed to versions 7 and 9 that I was brought up on.
Secondly, I read that most PSP new versions (here in the uk at least) come bundled with it's sister programme - Paint Shop Photo Album. This in my view is an excellent photo organising/catalogueing programme. It's the one I use at least. It has various creative elements to it, one of which is the one you want, the ability to create and burn Video CD (VCD) photo slide shows, to which you can add music.
I am not familiar with using Roxio, but if you are burning just a normal data (pics) DVD then they can only be displayed/burnt as a windows folder would view anything (by name, size, date etc). The alphabetical order you are therefore seeing is the normal 'by name' option.
I am unsure whether Roxio can change this but I doubt it. You would have to rename the pics with the easiest option of just putting a number in front of the filename dictating the order you want them in.
With a slideshow created by a programme, as opposed to the above which relies on just windows, as you are aware, you can have them in any order.
If your PSPx comes with PS Photo Album, then you have an excellent pic editor which will also do exactly what you want, and more.

Thanks...
Thanks Moby. I see what you mean about how the picture files won't list anyway but by name. The numbering is an option, I guess. I guess my worry is that I'm going to install this new program only to have my computer again not recognize the drive when I try to click on that option (to burn cd) in the Paint shop program but I guess the only way to know is to open it and install it. I'll be so unhappy if it does the same thing as the old program. At least I'll learn at that point that it's for sure the computer and not the software, tho. Thanks for speedy reply! Lisa

If other programs on your computer can view the DVD drive and burn to/read from it, then it's most likely a problem with the software itself (as opposed to a hardware or OS failure).

What happens if you try reinstalling Jsac Aftershot?

There are plenty of other programs out there that will create a beautiful slideshow and burn it to DVD, and some may be bundled with a DVD drive (Nero especially). If you don't have Nero, check with one of your friends, they may have a copy that they never used.
