Solved: Fuji XD memory bad?
I use a Fuji xd 250mb memory chip in an Olympus C725 camera.
I took about 12 shots on the 'empty' memory chip.
Normally I put the memory chip in a card reader and do a copy/paste.
But this time I used a 'move to' command that I installed in win98se thru a registry hack.
This has always worked without incident with my USB flash drives, but the next time I tried to transfer pictures, the XD memory chip became unrecognized in the reader.
I formated it several times in the camera, but it made no difference.
I have a spare chip that is recogonized, so I know the reader is good.

Did my using the 'move to' command corrupt the chip, or was it just coincidence?

Is there some method I could try that might correct this situation?

Howdy Stoner

Is the chip still recognized when in the camera?
Can you store pictures on it and transfer direct from the camera to your HD?
Do you dare try the "move to" command with spare chip?

The camera doesn't complain about it having a problem, Buck.
The camera will 'shoot' pictures.
I haven't used the cable for a direct camera to hard drive transfer, I have misplaced it

eh...I don't think I'm going to try the 'move to' with the other chip.....I want to use the camera tomorrow

Seem strange...

Don't blame you for not trying the spare

The card records fine and plays back fine...just not seen by the reader?

Have you tried formatting in the reader rather than the camera?

I know it is recommended to format in the camera but my CF cards don't seem to care...

Where did I put that cable...

Don't know if it plays back....am now reading the instructions on how
It does seem to record the shot as having been taken as the number of shots left, decreases each time I shoot a photo.

The computer refuses to format the chip thru the reader. Says to insert a drive and try again.

I'll be going into the basement soon to sort my junk, looking for that cable

Yep, just figured how to play back.....and the camera is recording to the chip and will display. I'll look harder for that cable LOL!

Don't know, Buck....but perhaps the 'move to' command, which seems to copy, paste and then delete the original, is not suitable for this type of memory ?
That's the only thing I can think of.

Bad luck? Coincidence?

I only know, 'move to ' isn't for me and that camera anymore.

I found the cable to connect the camera directly to the computer.
Seems to work without any problems in this manor........go figure.
