Solved: Microtek digital video camera
Hi,

I'm going on a trip and I need a small, simple camera that can take still photos and video.

I was looking at this one:
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...&Sku=S482-2008

Since we're going to be doing alot of stuff like canoeing, hiking, I don't want to get an expensive camera (in case it rains or something...), all I need is something that will record the video and take decent stills. Also, how much video should I be able to take with a 1 gb sd card?

Thanks.

MPEG4 at 640 X 480 and 30fps will give you around 30 minutes of video at best quality on a 1Gb card. There is usually a standard quality that will give an hour at that same pixel and frame rate. I'm assuming that sort of device uses the same best quality bit rate as digital cameras.

Alright, thanks. Should I expect this particular camera to last at all?

Here is something that I do when looking to purchase any item that has to do with technology related items. I type the model number and name into Google.com and add the word "reviews". It may take a while to sift through the reviews, but you may not end up getting broad-sided by buying something that will not fit your needs. Then, on the other hand, you may find a great bargain.

Good luck, and have a good trip.

Michael
