Solved: Know anything about gimp.org free software?
I am considering buying new photo editing software and I found about this free software from gimp.org. Does anyone know anything about it? I am happy with the Picasa software, but it is lacking a "cloning" or stamping tool and I believe the gimp software has one. I am a little afraid to download from this site I know nothing about.
Please help if you know anything about this.
thanks!

The GIMP - standard PhotoShop 7 type of software that comes with nearly all versions of Linux. You are probably looking at the Windows version - all are open source and free. Quite good in my opinion.

I find these useful when one program doesn't do what I want, I usually can do it in another.

Don't worry about downloading it, it's fine. Try it out and see if you like it.

If you have trouble installing Gimp .. you can get a free version of Paint Shop pro here ..

If you want to buy something ... I'd suggest Phototshop Elements 4.0
It has some nice, automatic, picture Fixit it tools.

There is also the variant "GimpShop" which is Gimp set up to look and work somewhat like PhotoShop for those who are more familiar with that program.
