Solved: Saving a round image
I want to make say a Blue circle. I dont want corners on it. I would like to insert it in a marquee thing, So the blue dot goes across the screen. ( I also would like to know how to make a marquee dissapear at one point and reappear at another.. as it bounces from one side of the screen to the other. But I think thats another forum, )..
So any ideas?

Make the background transparent. You can do this by using a transparent image in photoshop or by saving your picture with a solid background and using a program like Giffy to change that color to transparent.

You can either make the image bounce across with javascript or make it move in an animated picture.

Make it a GIF or make the background that you don't want to be seen the same background color as the color of the screen that the marquee is going on.

A GIF has the ability to used one of the defined colors (of the 256 possible) as a "transparent" color. Some programs will used that "transparent" color as intended, that is, it will show whatever underlying detail or colors through.

BUT you must use a program that has the ability to set the "transparent" bit, and define that color - MS Paint, does not have that ability, IrfanView does.

Note: If you open a GIF with Internet Explorer, you will see that any pixels defined as the transparent color will show the color of the otherwise blank, and usually that's white, IE window.

I have a neat program called Giffy that does it very easily and converts between bmp and gif. Very useful - i find ifranView very annoying.

Im pretty sure you cant download it anymore and dont know if its legal for me to host it somewhere.

Depends on the license, just because it's copyrighted doesn't mean you can't distribute it. PHPBB for example is copyrighted but is freely distributable under the GNU license. It will probably be listed under help>about .

Edit: BTW I did a search for that program and few places it could be downloaded from, whether they are reputable or not is for you to decide...

Also, IrfranView, as a graphic converter, handles dozens of formats, back and forth, with relative ease. Plus, when converting or saving a GIF you can set any color pixel of the picture as the transparent color just by clicking on that color.

As for converting, you can painlessly convert one picture, many pictures, or a folder, or batch as many pictures as you like. You don't even need to open IrfanView to convert, if you set up a DOS batch file or even just a command line. Along with converting in any of those scenarios, you can additionally change rotations, crop, resizing, color levels, etc. What's annoying with all that? You don't need to do all that, if you choose to just use rudimentary IrfanView features. But they are there, if you bother to learn something about the tool.

I don't know how you guys managed to attempt answering this question, it reads like nonsense to me.

ps: I wonder how many differently spelled versions of Irfanview there are on the board?

Whats so hard to understand about that especially considering the title? The rest refers to web design....
