what would make a memory card go bad in a camera and can it be fixed? its not the camera because the card won't work in several cameras. worked fine and they just quit. can't format. camera can't recognize the card.

Cards can go bad. If you can't format it using your PC either, it's probably time to toss it. Since you've been trying to format it, I assume you don't want any of the data on it.

If it's an SD card, make sure the write protect switch isn't on.
