Best Photo Paper?
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question but I just got an Epson Aculaser C1100 and I have been trying to print out an image on Epson Photo Paper. This paper worked well on our old Epson Stylus Photo 935, but when trying to print on the new laser, the images seem to come out with a green cast over them, no matter how much I played with the settings. It only happens with this Photo paper, normal paper seems to come out ok. Then I noticed the the paper says for Inkjet Printers. Sorry if I seem stupid but I have never had a laser printer before. Is this what could be causing my problem? Can anyone recommend good glossy photo paper for using with this printer? Thanks.

A colour laser printer is very different to an inkjet. I have the C1100 and only use it for brochures and documents and print on high quality 190 or 230 gsm white card. It will never equal an inkjet in photo quality I'm afraid, but then that is not it's purpose.

One of the best photo papers to work with is Ilford's Gallerie Smooth gloss that comes in a green box but it is for Ink Jet printers. Works beautifully with other printers also. Lasers are a "horse" of another color. White card stock and you might try "Epson's" Matte Paper heavyweight which is ideal for craft projects and signage. It's ultra smooth with a bright white matte finish.

If you want a photographic quality look you are probally gonna have to switch to an "Epson Photographic Printer". Try model 825 which should be under $100.00 bucks.

The type of coating (gloss, matte, etc) matters very little when you're using a laser printer - they are nothing like inkjet printers. Ink is absored into the paper and it picks up the paper's gloss, but toner is placed on top of the paper and then melted, creating a solid sheet that will cover whatever the paper has been coated with. Glossy paper will not give you glossy photos if you run it through a laser printer.

If you do want to use a specialty paper, make sure it's made for a laser printer. It has to be able to stand up to heat without melting, and it also has to be able to hold the toner. Just keep in mind that laser printers are not made for printing photos - you will always get better results from an inkjet printer.
