Exclamation Resizing .png files when converted from .ico *quick help if possible please*
Hi, if you could help me as soon as possible, I would really appreciate it I am compiling a CD of various graphics for my sister who is due very soon, and I've hit a rough spot

I have a zip file of crystal icons (.ico) which I need to convert to .png I have the following programs:

Axialis Icon Workshop
Photoshop CS2
Paint Shop Pro X
Corel Graphics Suite X3

I can convert the .ico files with no problems at all, but the converted .png file is very small (48x48 px is the max size whilst retaining original clarity). I need to have them at least double that as they are to be used as dock icons. When I have enlarged and converted them, they are very foggy and fuzzy (at 96 x 96 px), so any advice you could give me on enlarging them (whilst remaining clear and crisp), I would really appreciate it

Here are some samples of the original .ico files:

I have googled, but to no avail, but I have found another individual who has the same icons enlarged and superb quality. I have contacted him also Thanks so much in advance, and please help <pulls hair out>

Sorry, not possible to get results much, if any, better than what you have.
The other person with the larger icons probably had access to the source files or found larger versions of them.

Make sure you hyave it set to bicubic as the method for resizing. This won't remove the softness but will remove the pixelation you see in the images you created. I've attached an example.

They make some plug-ins for PS specifically for that and work quite well on the types of images that you have or images like cartoon graphics. On regular images bicubic works almost as well. Basically they search for the edges and preserve them and bucket fill the rest. Not cheap though....

Another method I seen mentioned but haven't had a chance to try myself is to to it in steps and remove the noise using neatimage. Essentially you step the image up in size using bicubic a little bit at a time and use neat image to remove the noise after each step....

Neat Image can be found here: http://www.neatimage.com/
