Exifer Date Taken Problem
I'm scanning a zillion old 35mm slides and adding comments using the Windows Explorer Properties, Summary, Simple comments field. Then a mouse over shows dimensions, date picture taken, and my comment as the first three fields of mouse over info.

The date picture taken field, however, is the date scanned, which is distracting. I've found that an Exifer batch date taken change to any pre-1989 year suppresses the display of this field for mouse overs. As long as I do this BEFORE adding comments, everything is fine.

However, if I goof and add comments first, my comment is changed to "box asterisk box" symbols in the mouse over info. I've found no way around this. Am I missing something, or is there a workaround, etc.? Thanks for any help!

XP SP2

BTW (by the way <grin>), I personally am not a big fan of smiley's - please take no offense - and usually only use the more common acronyms. What I REALLY can't stand are folk that use "textmessagespeak" (like "when r u going 2 fl?") on bulletin boards, with no punctuation, capitalization, etc.!
