Unclear Image/corrupted Image
MOST RECENTLY, THE PICTURES I RECEIVE ON MY EMAIL AND OTHER PLACES ARE NOT CLEAR AND SHARP. I CAN VAGUELY SEE THE IMAGE BUT SUPERIMPOSED ON IT ARE LIGHTER SHADES OF SQUARES AND RECTANGLES. IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THE IMAGE HAS NOT RESOLVED TO ITS FINAL FORM. I HOPE I HAVE MADE MYSELF CLEAR. WHAT DO I DO?

Hi.

The first thing to do is not use all capitals in the post!

(Using all capitals is the internet equivalent of shouting at us)

The symptoms you describe are consistent with the use of "internet accellerator" type programs or services offered by ISP's where they severely compress image to give the illusion of "faster internet", as it limits the data transmitted.

Check with your ISP if this is "enabled" or not?

Digital Photography & Imaging > Photos Become Damaged in Transfer from card to computer

When I look at them on the camera they are perfect. Someone suggested there was a patch for this but I'm having a hard time finding anywhere that knows what I am talking about. Any suggestions?
Your problem sounds similar to my problem. Is it happening all the time or every now and again?

These may have similar characteristics, but will be highly unlikely to have similar causes.

AOL Example, this is zoomed in 200%. Top one is original, bottom one is downloded with AOL's "acceleration" turned on:

Edit:Removed image link, see below

You can turn this off in the AOL browser under the settings somewhere. not sure if it affects e-mail or if there is a different setting somewhere for e-mail.

Dear Kiwiguy,

I did check with the ISP. And you are exactly correct. JUNO, my ISP, uses an internet accelerator called "TURBO". They have adjustments within TURBO to get around this problem. By using the adjusments in the settings tab and/or following their instructions on a specific image that one would like to see clearer, one can get around the problem. In that way, you can have your cake and eat it too so to speak. That is internet acceleration as well as image (of choice) clarity. Thanks loads again for helping me with this problem. I was going crazy for a while.

Good to get the feedback, vochee. It certainly sounded like that was the problem.

No. Did not intend to. If the image samples are needed please instruct me how to do this.

Vochee, the post you are referring to was from me to "thecoalman", as it appeared that he had forgotten the images he was posting as a demonstration. Your images are not needed as your problem is fixed.
