XD card error due to PC format
I know I'm not the first but I've formatted my Olympus xd card in my PC and although it works via a card reader on my PC it now doesn't work in my Olympus camera, which asks to format it but then refuses (card error.)

This is strange because (before I knew better) I did format the card on the PC a couple of times and when I put the card back in the camera it made me format it again but then it was fine.

I've tried reformatting on the PC in FAT, FAT 16 and FAT 32, no luck. The format function on the camera does work with other cards and the card does work via a reader on my PC so I'm assuming it is a formatting problem rather than a broken card.

Anyone got any good ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Check the website of the card maker.
They may have a downloadable utility to repair/format the card correctly, if you are in luck.

There's no help on the website. These cards are so much cheaper than they used to be that its not worth sending it away to be reformatted, assuming that's possible, has to be a self fix.

I suspect that Olympus are keeping the formatting to themselves so that you can't upgrade a Fuji card to have the Olympus panoramic function. Can't beleive there isn't a utility on the web somewhere, but I'll keep looking.

I'm wondering if it might be possible to transfer a '"global image" of another card onto the feulty one, would that include the formatting?
