Inserting an animated gif onto a banner
I have made a banner for a site using adobe, but was wondering if there is any way I can put an animated gif onto it as well.

Its for a firm that rents villas abroad and a nice animated sun on the logo/banner would look nice.

Cheers

Well, you can export the banner to Imageready, and add the animated elements there, and save the whole thing as a gif.

That might make it kinda tough to line up the gif frames.

I’d open the Gif in Image ready ...
Switch to edit in Photoshop …
Resize the Gif canvas to match the Banner and the gif placement ...
Add the Banner to a new layer …
Switch back to edit in Image ready …
Add the Banner frame to the viewable gif frames ..
And save the whole thing as a gif.

When in … Edit in Photoshop …
Open the Banner in (another) Photoshop …
Click and drag the Banner Image to the gif … Might have to change the gif Mode to RGB first …
Now – you can position the banner (new) layer …
Then switch back to Edit in Image ready …
Now using the eyeballs .. make the Banner viewable in all the gif frames.
Save as an Optimized gif.

Care to attach the gif and banner here so we can see what we're working with ??

Note …
When in "Edit in Photoshop" and you think you have the layers as you need them ..
Save this “working file” as a psd.
When you save as an optimized gif in Image ready ... it will change the layers.
You may need to go back to the psd .. to rework it.

Something like attached ???

Here's my "Working" psd file to open in PS...

Edit ... Moved to the left.
I see some things you may want to touchup.
Yellow rays on a yellow background doesn't work to well.

Once you get the animation part figure out as per the directions from others split the animation into two pieces. One section where it's animated and the other section that is static save the static section as a single frame.

Place each in it's own table cell like this:

Code:
<table border="0"  cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
  <tr>
     <td><img src="pathtoyourimage/animated.gif"></td>
     <td><img src="pathtoyourimage/static.gif"></td>
  </tr>
</table>
Animated gif's can become quite large since each frame is a seperate image. By splitting the static and animated part you'll cut down on the file size quite a bit. You could if you wanted just do that with it right now by placing the gif and banner side by side.

Good tip .. I was worried about the size.

You could always use M$ publisher .. and put the gif on top of the banner ...
And save as HTML .. etc

This is a whole lot easier than using PS or IR

This should work ...
