Dowloading vell phone pics
I puchased a USB cord of off of the internet that is supposed to allow me to download pics from my camera phone to my pc. Unfortunately it only allows me to pass calender dates and addresses etc...back and forth.....not the reason I bought it. Apparently there is a way to do this ..any ideas? LilLisa

First off, did you install the phones usb modem driver - presumably it came with the phone on a CD?

You can get it from the Canadian LG site (Service Info - software)

Well, if it was the correct driver, you may still need software to access your phone directly (http://www.bitpim.org/ ?).

Unless, you have a memory card in your phone and that's where the images are? In that case you may need to change the data/fax (or whatever) usb connection to the memory card. Then the PC will pick up the card as a removable drive.

There are 2 ways to store data (inc images) on your phone; one, is in the phones memory - which is usually quite small. The second is in a memory card, that come with the phone or that you can buy separately.

To access the card via the PC, you have to switch modes somewhere in the phone's options so that the card, not the phone memory, is active.

Memory cards are read as a removable drive in 'My Computer' (when active), and you can copy, delete, etc. files from them fairly easily.
Accessing the phone memory would generally require a small software utility - this is where I imagine bitpim comes in - plus the usb modem drivers.

In that phone (LG 6200) there is no mention of any memory card, only the basic in-phone memory though (just looked at the on-line manual)

It would not therefore be surprising that you have to email the images or otherwise transfer them via the cellphone to a network server, that "feature" is often considered a benefit by the cellphone network provider as you have to pay them to achieve it.

However this forum link appear to have the answer...

Smile One more thing!
yes ..you are absolutely right about the emailing of photos..and the cost..that is what I was trying to get around..although at this point I have purchased a digital cam..so I really only need to get a few photos now and then ..but its still nice to have and nice to not give Bell an extra nickel ....Lisa
