Can't see my pictures....
Hello,
My wife and I decided to back up all of our digital photos on recordable CDs a couple months ago. We burned them with a program called Nero, all the folders seemed to be on the discs, so we deleted the pictures from her hard drive. Deleted them from the recycle bin too. Tonight, we tried to print some of the photos, and to our horror, we can't even see them. The folders are there, the icons, details, everything is there, but we can't see the pictures. They are stored as JPG Images. We've tried the "Open with" option with every program on both of our computers, and nothing works. In the Microsoft Picture Manager, it just shows a tiny little square with an x in the middle in the place of our photo. Paint, HP Photoshop, Adobe, etc... won't even try to open the photos. This is about 5 years of pictures, at least a couple thousand of them. They are all listed as files, with different sizes, etc... and all have the JPG icon, but no pictures. If you could please offer some ideas as to why the data seems to be on the CDs, but not able to be opened, we would be forever in your debt. Thanks.

A file recovery program like the one listed above will work quite well, the files are never truly deleted until they are overwritten. If the computer was used very little most of them should be easily recovered. That's the key, the less you use it the better off you are. Personally I would turn it off and transfer the drive to another computer and run the file recovery from there. Any activity on the computer could possibly overwrite the files.

As for the CD's have you tried tramsferring the files to HDD?
