so before i go around telling my father (and being punished by him), i need to know exactly what the problem is here. the part that pops out (i am not good with tech vocab) is.. well, not popping out. and after a few seconds the camera shuts off. now if i go to the voice recording option, then it works perfectly & i can view my previous pictures as well. but the problem is, i cannot take any pictures because the lens won't open. is it jammed?
what have i done wrong..

Could you please tell us the name of your camera? I know that many Kodak cameras len's doesn't come out if it is very low on battery.

Also, does the camera make any noise when you try to turn it on and when did it stop working?

it's a samsung digimax 4500 super (4.0 megapix)
i thought it was low on batteries as well, but i fully recharged them & the same thing occured. & yes, there is a noise-- kind of like a beep. stopped working last night. the thing is, just before, it had worked fine. though it was in my backpack and i dont' know if something might've happened.

I would say there is not a lot you can do,sounds like the lens motor is not working, since the batteries are fully charged...this can happen at anytime, and is a job for the repair shop,it depends on how old it is,and if its still under warranty as to whether you take that option,I know that here in the UK it would cost about £100 to get it fixed if its out of warranty....
