Search for "animations" in the Adobe Help Center, and in the middle on the left side click on "Creating an animation"

Welcome to the Forum.

Animations are done in the Image Ready part of CS.
Create your frame layers in CS ... Then switch to Edit Image Ready.
Save you work in Image Ready as a psd file ... because ...
When you save the animation as an Optimized gif .. it will (probably) change the layer layout.

Could be ...
But if you want to edit an animated gif .. open it in Image ready to recover the frames ... then switch to PS.

BUT ... If multiple frames were visible during the animation slide creation ... they will be recalled as only one frame.
That's why you want to save your work as a photoshop psd ... before saving as a optimized gif.

I started learning (still am) by opening a gif in IR .. then switching to PS ... to play with it.
Then sent it back to IR ... to play with it some more.

I think there are other ways of working .. but this makes sense to me and is a good place to start.

okay, now I have a different question...

When I tried to open photoshop for the first time, my computer kept making this weird banging noise, and i got the blue screen of death, "windows shut it self down to prevent damage to your comp", etc etc (i had to get rid of it)

The thing is, right after I installed Photoshop for the first time, it asked me if i wanted to open jpgs and bitmaps, etc in photoshop or imageready, or leave it as it was. problem is, I set it to open jpgs with photoshop, but now that photoshop is gone, i can't upload jpgs to the web... i can still open them in picture viewer (via the whole open with thing), but when I try to upload them to a site, nothing happens...

any ideas?

Ideas ... Yes ..... The freeware ... http://www.irfanview.com/
Come Join the crowd here at TSG.
Open all images in Irfanview.

I have only two Image programs ... Irfanview and CS2
I only use CS2 when I need more power.

To be able to view your jpeg images again, go to control panel/folder options/file types. Scan down to where you see jpeg and jpg. By highlighting the file types you will be able to edit the prog you want to open the file extension
