I clicked view image on your avatar, then looked at properties, under alt text it said: The image “http://forums.techguy.org/image.php?...9804908” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
Dont know if that means anything though. Have you checked the file size or format

I dont think that is the problem because buf has exactly the same avatar, I asked him if I could use it and he said yes, I followed his instructions, but to no avail.

Your avatar's properties are listed as being an 1193 byte JPEG file. The properties for buf's avatar are listed as being a 14884 byte GIF file. Your file is about 1/12 the size and in a file format that I do not believe supports animation.

Exactly what were the instructions that you followed?

There are different instructions from different people in the topic but none that I could see from buf. I believe that you just need to follow the instructions from helpforme in post #15:

Nevermind....buf right click on the animated image and save as......to your computer. Then you should be able to upload it to your user control panel avatar section
You need to be sure that you are saving buf's avatar as a GIF file.

You might be uploading it wrong. Upload the file at www.imageshack.us and pick that image as your avatar
