making jpg images smaller size to send in emails
I have a 3 and 6 megapixel camera and of course when I take the pictures I take them in the highest jpg resolution possible (not TIFF though) but now I would like to email some to a friend and there is a rejection of the size of the file that I could send to something like 150kb (I think) and since my photos are all over 1mb in size I need to reduce the size of the file to send......

how might I be able to accomplish?

thanks

If you do not have any software to re size Pictures you can use Infranview

Just do a search for it on the web.

Here's the link http://www.irfanview.com/

There's nothing simpler to resize pics to email than Microsofts own image resizer. It's tiny and once installed you right click single or multiple pics and 'resize pics' shows in the right click menu. Make sure your resized pics are copies of the originals and don't resize the originals (which it is by default in this app)
Image resizer is 3 quarters down this page with download link on right.

There's nothing to find. Just right click a pic or multi selected pics and 'resize pictures' shows in the right click menu. Select it and going with the default 640x480 size is plenty small enough. Select custom size to choose a smaller or bigger size than the 3 standard choices you are presented with at first.
It's that easy.

you say there is nothing to find but also told me to go and get the "Image resizer" found 3/4 the way down the page....that is what I did, installed it and now cant find that program to resize the photo.

IF you are talking about MS Picture viewer I already had this program and have found the "Resize" photo button but am afraid to resize the photo as it sounds as if it would do this from that point forward if I clik on "yes"

is there not some very simple manner to take a photo that is large (lets say 1.2mb) and make it small (lets say, less then 500kb) ?

If you want to keep the original picture resolution and picture quality you can use a free service like YouSendIt.com to upload the original picture files to their server. You can then just send the download link(s) in an e-mail to your friend.

You and your friend can also use a free e-mail service like Google's Gmail. Each message can have up to a 10 MB attachment and total mail storage limit is over 2GB. I have some Gmail invitations if the two of need them.

isnt that a little complicated??
Load to a site, provide link, ect?

All I want to do is make the file size smaller such to be able to send to someone that ISP has a restriction/limitation on file sizes that can be attached

any other ideas?

You went to the link.
You installed the programme.
Good.
Now right click a picture and select 'resize pictures'
That is all there is to find.

ok, did that
sent to myself in an email
and it still sent to me as a 1.05 mb

that is not small enough to send to the person I am trying to get it too as it needs to be smaller then the 150kb????????

Select an even a smaller picture size in Microsoft Picture Resizer. You may have to go into a real small custom picture sizes to get a 3 to 6 MB original down to be under 150 KB as an attachment.

Why are you using Picture Manager when you said you downloaded and installed Image Resizer in post #4?

I am giving up at this point. I checked my posts, they are in English.
Install IMAGE RESIZER then right click a pic to resize it.
Why don't you just print out the pictures, stick them in an envelope and deliver them personally on the back of a donkey, it would be much quicker?
Happy New Year.
