Dropped Digital Camera...
I accidentaly dropped my digital camera from my desk to the carpet. It has been taking odd pictures lately.
Somtimes pictures come out all right and sometimes they come out grey with horizontal lines across. Its just not the LCD screen, its on the actual picture too..

What do you think I broke inside the camera and is it possible for me to open it up and fix it myself? Thanks in Advance

The fact that sometimes they are OK and sometimes not suggests that there could be a crack in a PCB track or similar.

Unless you have "laboratory type facilities", there will be little you can do with high density, multi-layered PC boards using surface mount technology.

This is why service agents often replace rather than repair these days.

It has no warranty.. What are the chances of me getting fixed at some location at a reasonable rate

Not even knowing what the make and model is, I have no idea if paying someone qualified to even open it up and look would exceed the cost of replacement?

Without basic information, it's all a guess. But my guess would be that repairs would be appropriate on only the high end (read "expensive") cameras. Point and shoot models could well exceed the replacement costs to repair.

Unless the damage was immediately visible to the technician, diagnosis will be by purchasing and replacing the main component boards. Immediately I see the cost possibly being above a new and better camera.

Or I would if I knew what the camera make and model was....

Probably not very good,it would probably cost as much to get it repaired as to buy new, thats if anyone would would repair it ....the chances of you repairing it yourself are about zero,so unless it is a very expensive camera, and you want to keep it,you need to visit the camera shop .....

Sory kiwiguy we posted the same time ...
