Question Photoshop CS2 strange RAM problem
Dear all:

I've had this really weird problem with my Photoshop CS2, after installing it into my PC, open it and RAM will start to increase gradually by around 10~30MB per second, until PC halt and become very very slow. Let me show you my PC's specs first:

Hardware:
Intel E6300
P5B motherboard
450W Antec PSU
2 x 1 GB ADATA RAM = 2 GB
250GB + 320GB SATA2 HDD
XFX 7600GT display card
DVD RW

Software (Work):
Windows XP pro SP2
Photoshop CS2
Illustrator CS2
Adobe Premier Pro 2.0
Acrobat 7.0 PRO
3D Studio Max 9
Cinema 4D V9.521
Macromedia 8 (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash....etc)
Microsoft Office 2003
Rhino 3D 3.0
Solidworks 2006 Pro

Software (Others)
Bit Torrent, Alcohol, Apploc, Flashget, PC-Cillin 2006, Spyware Doctor, Firefox, Nero burner, O&O Defrag, Skype, MSN, Your Uninstaller! 2006...etc

Solution tried:

1. Format PC reinstall all programs, photoshop works fine in the first few time, then this problem will suddenly arise again.

2. Thought I've installed too many software, I begin to uninstall most recent software one by one until Photoshop works again, this method works once, but this problem arise after a while again.

3. I've asked for help on the net and someone told me to go to , preference> type> then uncheck the "Font preview size", this method works, BUT when I try to use the type tool, an error message box will come up, the image is attached in this thread.

4. I've formated my PC with different Windows XP Pro, but the same problem happened

5. I've formated my PC then installed with another copy of photoshop CS2, but the same problem happened

6. I've used other PC with different specs, with the same software installed , but problem happened again

I have ran out of solutions, I've tried to look for relative topics on the web with this problem, but dont seem to have the same problem as I do. Can anybody please kindly help me to solve this problem pleaseeeee....

There's a bell ringing somewhere in my memory that Spyware Doctor may cause problems such as this - try shutting it down then opening up photoshop and giving it another go.

Worth a quick try anyway

First of all, Thanks for you help Jaymanson.

I have tried to uninstall spyware doctor with Your Uninstaller! 2006, restarted my PC, and the problem still present. Can you think of any other way of fixing this please ?

MANY THANKS

Hi, can somebody help me please...

Can somebody tell me some hints maybe, is it the hardware or software, or driver problem ?

The error message mentioned something about text engine. Do you think its the Chinese input program that I have installed causing the problem ? Or its the Chinese dictionary program ? Microsoft Office ? etc......

Thanks

What is the setup for your scratch disks? It may very well be a problem with Chinese fonts because I have seen numerous posts regarding this on Google.

Hi Rockn

I've checked the setting of my photoshop preference > plug-ins & scratch disks

Additional Plug ins folder check box is unchecked
Legacy Photoshop Serial Number Text box is Empty
Scratch Disks:
First: Startup
Second: None
3rd: None
4th: None

I'm using English version of WinXP Pro SP2
currently setting the pc "Language for non-unicode program" as Chinese (Hong Kong SAR)

Sorry I'm not very familar with this problem, what can i do next ? Please advise

Thanks very much for your reply
