great little photo application -lost photos?
As we know, deleting something from our hard drive does not mean it is really gone. If you are like me, I'm sure there has been a time when you've accidently deleted or lost photos on your computer. While researching ppi and photo sizing I came across this neat & free application in the hopes that it would clear up my confusion. Although it didn't solve my problem, it did give me something that I thought was gone forever! It cataloged all of my photos and in so doing it also found a huge number of of the ones that I had accidently deleted. Not all, but most.

I must add that although happy, it also left me rather paranoid. I've reformatted this system at least 10 -15 times since the loss of some of my images... if I should ever decide to sell or give an old computer of mine I'll remove the hard drive first and replace it with a new one!

Sounds good etaf, but I think I still feel safer taking the electric sander and sledgehammer to the hard drive.

Depends what you had on it. If a lot of personal, need secure info I'd be a little nervous. But then again, that is me. I'm paranoid remember? So really, the hard drive is gone, there isn't anything you can do about it; so why drive yourself crazy?

Try Dban
http://dban.sourceforge.net/

ps: Picasa cannot & does not recover deleted files - you must not have deleted them properly.

My intent is not to mislead or give false hope in the restoration of ones photos. Whether Picasa will work for others in the manner that it did for me, I can't say for certain. As to why my photos were restored, I see from your comment lister...it will remain a mystery. As for the photos that I am speaking of they were not just deleted but I had also done a reformat due to another problem. I've heard it said that computers are a mystery at times, so I guess this is one of those times.
