Question XP Home -- Camera wizard
I have an older digital camera (Olympus C-2/D-230) and have connected via USB and has
been recognized on the task bar as new hwd, but when I try to use the (Camera Wizard),
it will not recognize the camera ? This is the message given; "The computer cannot detect
the scanner or camera, Please be sure the device is turned on and is properly connected
to the computer". Need some guidance. OS XP Home SP2

Thanks,

Billjh

does it show in my computer as a removeable drive?

Is the camera set to the correct mode for pc downloading?

What happens if you click on it as a removeable drive?

No idea ...it's your camera not mine... do you have the manual?

Something you might try:
Right click the drive that is the camera.
Properties
AutoPlay
Select “Pictures” from the dropdown menu.
Check “select an action to perform”
Select "Copy pictures to a folder using the Camera and Scanner Wizard"
Apply and OK.

This might trigger the wizard to connect to your camera.

Of course you have to set the camera properly for downloading photos as buck52 suggests. You normally don’t get the drive letter until that is done though.

I've done as you have suggested and do have the drive letter "J", along with the "Camera
Icon". At the drive "J", the pictures are there, but when I go to the "Camera Icon", it is
here where it will not let me access the "Camera Wizard" ?

Looking at the picture files in “J”:
Edit > Select All
Edit > Copy

Right click on any folder in your computer and select “Paste”. The images will download into that folder.

Once you are sure you have the photos safely on the computer, format the card in the camera.

That is how many of us access our photos rather than mess with useless wizards and software.
