Not able to transfer movie from Canon ZR65MC to computer
Hi,I have canon ZR65MC camcorder and 4 pin-to-4pin DV(firewire) cable.I have installed all the software and drivers came with my camcorder. But still when i connect my camcorder to my laptop it does not recognise it and I am not able to transfer movies from camcorder to my laptop.I opened window movie maker s/w and click on capture video option but I am getting the message "A video capture device was not detected. verify that a device is turned on and connected properly, and then try again".
everything is properly connected and my video is in play mode.
Can anybody help me on that.I have Microsoft windows XP Media center addition version 2002 , service pack 2.

The camera shouldn't need drivers to be seen by Moviemaker. Try this---turn the camera on to the VTR mode, then turn the computer on, then open Moviemaker's capture module.

Still no success
Yes, I did that and still getting same message.I executed following steps
1. Inserted DV cable in my laptop's IEEE port
2. Inserted other side of cable in camcorder DV port
3. Switched on my camcorder
4. Put my camcorder in VCR(Play) mode
5. Started Window movie maker
6. Clicked on capture video
7. Getting the same message "A video capture device was not detected. verify that a device is turned on and connected properly, and then try again"

Okay, lets make sure your firewire is working---Go to my computer, device manager, ieee 1394 controllers and see if you can find the Ieee 1394 and see if it is functioning. If that checks out, then lets try this. Download Virtual Dub. Open Virtual Dub and lets see if you can capture an avi with it. If you have the same problem, let me know.
