Scanner/Printer/Copier doesn't scan
Hi. I'm having trouble with my HP PSC 2110v all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. It prints and copies okay (except the paper jams a lot) but whenever I try to scan a picture I get a message saying that some software was installed wrong. This happens even after I re-installed the CD software that came with it.

Brady:A couple of things you can try.
First, unplug the unit from the electrical power source and just let it sit for about a minute.Sometimes helps, sometimes not.
Go into device manager, and see if the entry for your device looks ok(no exclamation pts or error indications, just a nice plus)
You might try just deleting the device and re-installing,following HP's instructions for installation.
Also, what operating system are you using and can we assume that this is USB attached?
Also,if you are having paper jam problems, might be an indication of something else wrong with the unit as well.If you can get at the feed rollers.try to clean them up a bit.

Also:One other thing that you should do is log onto the hp site and make sure that you have the most current driver for your operating system.

When you get "a message saying that some software was installed wrong" it would really help if you noted the exact message and posted it.

That will give a direct clue as to what is happening, without the exact message it's a lottery.

Yeah, I know. I phrased it too vaguely for no good reason. But I figured out that the problem was that I installed the wrong CD altogether. The one I used said "HP All-in-One Software for the PSC 2170 and OfficeJet 6100 Series". My scanner's a psc 2110v. Now I don't know where the right CD might be at all. This is not a new unit; I've had it for years, so I'm sure the warranty's expired. Now my only difficulties will be to navigate HP's website to find the software for an hp psc 2110v, and to fix the paper jam problem. I'll try those in the morning, but additional advice would be appreciated.

Can you run your Scanner if you go to ....
Programs >> Accessories >> Camera n Scanner Wizard ???

Personally, I avoid using HP's software if at all possible.

The Windows scanner and printer drivers are not nearly as good as the HP drivers. It isn’t that the Windows drivers don’t work, but a lot of function is missing from them. And buttons like the copy button won’t work.

The only problem seems to be that you installed the wrong software. Uninstalling that and installing the software from HP is your best solution IMO.

If you can run the Camera from Windows Camera n Scanner Wizard …
Then the HP Scanner Twain driver is installed and functional ….
But it’s the other HP Image Zone bloat that’s your problem.

My HP Scanner had a choice to install the full or the basic software …
I chose the Basic to avoid the other possible HP IZ problems … And all Scanner functions still work.

Doesn’t look like your Scanner has a choice to download the Full or Basic install package.

The question was …
Is you HP Scanner Twain driver installed/working … And can you run the Scanner from Windows ...
Bypassing all the other possible HP IZ software problems and saving about 100MB of disc space ?

No, I can't run it from Windows Camera and Scanner Wizard. The Wizard opens, I select Color copy and click OK, and then the wizard window says "The wizard did not successfully complete copying your picture because an error occurred." When I click on "See detailed error information", I get "An unspecified error occurred while your pictures were being copied (0x80210015)". So I guess my "Twain driver" doesn't work?

Sounds right ... If it were me at this point ...
I'd remove anything that said HP Image Zone ....
and reinstall it from your CD or HP's site in Kiwiguy's post #6 >>> HP Full Solution Software Driver

Be sure to connect and turn on your scanner only when told to do so by the installation.
