Solved: 70-300mm sigma - switching from macro?
I just received a 70-300mm f4-5.6 DG macro sigma lens for my birthday. I'm a beginner, so although this may not be considered by some to be a great lens, dollar wise it is a good place to start. My question is that I'm a little confused with the macro feature. I understand how to switch the lens to macro by fully extending the lens and then flipping the normal/macro switch. But my problem is putting it back to normal. I guess you could say it is a case of being afraid to touch anything I don't understand. From what I understand I have to have the focus ring out of focus to return to normal. What is the focus ring? Is it the one shown in my attached photo? (My camera is set on auto-focus)

I have never seen a lens of that focal length with macro capabilities.

Not a manual per say. Only a small bit of info on the lens and its features. I think I figured out what I was doing wrong. When switching back to normal mode, if I've been using the macro in AF, I just switch it to manual. Turn the lens slightly to put it out of focus and then the Normal switch works.
The price tag was not bad, $280 cdn; for a beginner it is a pretty good lens to get started with. Here are two shots that I took with it. As I said I'm just a beginner so I'm sure I'm not doing the lens a great deal of justice.
