Cannot Download Pictures
I have a Cannon Powershot A430. Works fine, and had no problems until I tried to download pictures to my computer, no pop up window, no use of EOS utility, and no way to download pictures except for Windows imaging utility. It did not get these problems with the original installation. I uninstalled the software, disconnected the USB cable, and rebooted. Reinstalled the camera software, and took updates from Cannon site. Still no good. I run XP Pro with service pack 2, so I don't need the Twain drivers. Anybody with any ideas, I am out of them

Hard to know what you are trying to do. Not familiar with “EOS utility”. I had thought Canon people used ZoomBrowser when they were allergic to Windows. Is the EOS utility reporting than no camera is found when you try to access the camera through it?

A few newer model Canon cameras aren’t PTP – I have no idea why they would do that. But yours should show as a drive when it is connected and turned on. The drive will usually be listed as “Removable Disc” or “Camera”. If it is there in either My Computer or Windows Explorer right click the drive > Properties > AutoPlay > Pictures. Check “Select an action” and choose what you want it to do when the camera is connected.
