Unhappy Anyone know how to download pics off a Samsung camcorder when I've lost the disc?
It's a samsung SC-D363. I can firewire the video but I can't get the stillshot pics off because my computer won't recognize them through the USB. We had to re-do the hard drive a while back and we can't find the disc to reinstall the software. I've tried samsung's website but they don't even list this # and they haven't responded to my emails. Isn't there some generic way to pull pics off? Thanks for helping.

With the camera plugged in and ready to download look in My Computer to see if it shows as a drive. It works like any other drive and you can copy/paste to whatever folder you want.

With XP and Vista you usually don’t need a driver for still pictures to be downloaded if it works like a digital camera. But the manual says: “If you transfer data to a PC, you need to install the software (DV Driver, Video Codec, DirectX 9.0) supplied with the Camcorder.”

The manual says it shows as a drive, presumably with the drivers.

If you don’t already have DirectX 9 you can get it here. It is probably on your system though. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

The driver appears to be here. You can also get the manual.

Hopefully one of the two Windows drivers will have the codec.
