Solved: DXG 586 Camera - need a download cord!!!
I have a DXG 586 camera and lost the cord - nothing else fits and I cannot find a compatible cord. I even bought a standard adapter kit - too big! I found a previous thread from retryplz regarding the same thing last year -

retryplz - did you ever find a cord? I have lost mine and no amount of searching on the web has found one for me!!! Standard adapters don't work - this cord is much smaller than the standard ones. I really need your help - thanks!

The camera specs here say that the PC interface is USB 2.0.

I wonder if you have a micro-USB jack on the camera. The same type of jack is used on some cell phones and a few MP3 players. You may be able to find the cable at a store that sells such products and their accessories.

FWiW, Digi-Key sells a USB cable with a micro-USB plug on one end. Here is a link to the PDF file that has a drawing of the cable. It may give you an idea if that is what you need to be looking for.

Thanks, I will check it out. The port is a 4-pin, so maybe that is the difference.

Does it look like the 4 pin connector on the Belkin cable pictured here (click the picture to enlarge)?

(The above cable is advertised on NewEgg.com)

A better view of the 4 pin plug and socket can be found here:

Thanks for the links - I looked at them, but the port is rectangular, without the curved top. retryplz had a pretty good photo on his/her May 30th post, if you want to see the port. I figure you guys could help me if anyone could, short of wasting the gas going store to store to store.......

Did find a bit dark and blurred picture here.

It does appear like it takes a plug shaped like the 5 pin min-USB plug I previously mentioned. In that topic it looks like wilson44512 found a cable for their camera. They seem to be a regular visitor on TSG. Maybe you can ask them to confirm that it is a 4 pin plug and where they got their cable.

I may try that, although, it seems like the simplest solution, per a colleague, simply remove the card and download it directly - he will try that tonight as my computer cannot do that.

You can get various types of USB based memory card readers for not a whole lot of $$. Some that accept a single card are not much larger than a USB thumb drive.

It may sound like an unusual fix, but Walmart has several cheap mini-cameras ($20-$30) that come with cords included. These have no removable card so a card reader doesn't work, but it might be cheaper to buy a camera setup-then give away the camera.

In all of the 3 digital cameras I have, not one has ever been connected to the PC. In truth I would not know where the cords are.
Card readers give no grief, no camera specific software should be needed these days, I refuse to load any camera supplied sotware as I consider it all to be a (PC) health hazard.

Well, I appreciate you guys!! Downloading the card directly is the ticket. I now have a card reader and will never have this problem again! Forget the cords.....And my report is now complete! Thanks
