HP Image Zone
I am working with HP Image Zone and editing photos. When I select a photo and then click Edit, the program takes at least two minutes to load the photo into the Edit screen. Does anyone have any ideas that would speed this process?

Thank you,

Welcome to the TSG Forum ... I'm surprised no one's been a long to help yet.

Till then … How bout some more info ….
Are you running XP or Vista ?
Did HPIZ come with a Camera … HP Scanner/Printer … or in your computer ?
... Make n Model of your Computer might help.
What kind of Image Editing do you want to do ??

Personally, I refuse to use HPIZ and remove it from my HP computer(s) ..
So I can’t be any help.
Does sound like a Browser/Organizer problem.

Bump

The HPIZ software came with a camera. We have four installed on computers running Windows XP which are Compaq and one one XP Dell computer. At first it was running fine, but as time has passed the Edit mode has become very, very slow. We use the Edit mode to crop photos which are used for name badges in another program. I first thought the size of the folder with all the photos was the problem, deleted photos and it seemed to help, but that doesn't work now. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software and no results. So, back to the drawing board...

Thanks for your reply.

May I suggest dumping (or not using) HPIZ ..... And installing the freeware Irfanview ...
http://www.irfanview.com/

This was recommended to my by HP when I complained about the software that came with my first HP camera...
and I've been addicted to it ever since.
Here's some initial setup tips ... http://2noyb.home.insightbb.com/

Irfanview is Very popular here at TSG.
If you have problems with Irfanview .. You'll have no shortage of help.

You'll have to download your Camera(s) manually and do your own organizing ..
Which is where you problem probably is.

I take it you are comfortable with Image Zone except for the slowdown. That usually happens when you run short of RAM. The computer uses “virtual memory” instead. That means you are using the hard drive to simulate RAM and it is instant slow lane when that happens.

When it happens over time it usually means that too much stuff has started running when you boot the computer. Cleaning out the startup can make everything run much faster. This site tells you how to access it and has a list of just about everything you might find in the startup. It advises you whether it is a good idea to uncheck any particular item. http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php

It also isn’t a bad idea to make sure your XP services aren’t taking too much RAM. http://www.theeldergeek.com/services_guide.htm

Sometimes spyware and adware can slow the computer. The free version of Adaware does a decent job of scanning the computer and letting you eliminate that kind of stuff. Of course you want to make sure your anti-virus definitions are up to date and the program is scanning regularly.

Sometimes you can accumulate too many temp files. There are little free utilities to clean them but I prefer to know what is happening. You might look at this: http://www.personal-computer-tutor.c...gtempfiles.htm You also want to set Internet Explorer to dump the internet temp files when you close the program.

If all you are doing in Image Zone is cropping you might find NOYB’s suggestion to just switch to Irfanview might work fine. But cleaning out the computer will probably make everything go a little faster.
