Can not transfer pictures from sd card.
I have a Windows Me operating system.
I can not transfer digital pictures from a sd card from a Pentax Optio M20 using a mobile card reader/writer.
I have installed an internal 4 port usb 2.0.
I have bought a new sd card thinking the old card was corrupt.
I use Picasa2 software for all my picture storage.
I tried numerous mobile card readers.
I'm out of ideas.
Can anyone help?

Thanks,
JamesR146

Are you accessing the card reader directly through My Computer or Windows Explorer? Is the card reader showing as a separate drive? It should be. If it is, what do you get when you go to the folder with the photos? How about the camera – does it show as a drive when connected and ready for transfer?

Are other USB devices working from the ports you installed? From the specific port you are plugging the card readers into? It doesn’t seem reasonable that multiple card readers aren’t working if the USB ports are good. A ME computer would have come with USB1 ports and card readers are backward compatible. If you haven’t done it yet try one of the original computer ports.

You might look in Device Manager to see if anything is amiss with the USB. Right click My Computer > Properties > System. Expand USB and make sure your card has entries with no yellow exclamation marks or red Xs.

If the common thread is Picasa you need to learn to directly download your photos. I guess Picasa is OK for someone with photos spread all over their computers but it isn’t a good way to download photos IMO.
