Exclamation Sony Cams Go Into Sleep Mode When Used as Web Cams
Hi all -

I'm have two Sony Cams, either of which I'm attempting to use as a web cam.

The models are:

Sony MiniDV DCR-HC38
Sony DCR-TRV250

The problem is, both of them go into "sleep" mode when I attempt to use them as such. After a given point in time, the HC38 cycles a screen saver type program, then shuts it self off. The TRV250 simply freezes the image and goes to 'sleep'.

I'm following Sony's own recommended guidelines for using their HandyCams as web cams -
connect fia firewire to my Mac, turn Cam on, remove tape, set to camera, voila.

My software and computer have no issues seeing and broadcasting the video footage. The only issue I'm having is stopping the cams from shutting down after a short period of time.

Repeated searching of Sony's own support documentation has been of no use whatsoever.

If anyone has dealt successfully with this issue before, I'd really appreciate the help!

Cheers,

Carol

I looked in the manual for the HC38 and you have a menu item for the auto shutoff for 5 minutes or never. Is it still going to sleep set to never?
