Question Hooking my Video Camera to my PC
Hey guys, I have a Sony CCD-TRV308. I don't know what cables I need in order to hook it into my pc. I have Sony Vegas 7.0E and I am REALLY big into video editing. But I have a lot of raw footage that I want to edit, and make into video's. So does anyone know what I can use.

I have a Windows XP SP2. Not a Mac, so I don't know how much more difficult it would be to do. Please anyone know how to help me out?

Thats an analog camera so you will have to convert the tape to digital using pass through hardware of some type. Some video cards will do it, some people use a converter. Unfortunately, you own a professional quality NLE and a very outdated video camera.

So is there no AV/USB cable I could use to see if I can link up between the two. This sucks. The camera sits there with no use. It was my Step-Grandfathers. And the guy doesn't use it enough. So I took initiative. Do you know of any cheap stuff I could get to convert it? Maybe any free software conversion if I could get the right cables.

If you think $69 is pricey, you might be in a world of pain for stuff that costs less. Some of the cheap stuff will let you capture say 30 seconds off your camcorder. but if you go 10 minutes, some of them will lose sync between the audio and video. Others save only in MPEG format, which is less space, but won't do frame by frame edits like an AVI format. In general, if you want to spend a lot of time on this, good gear is better, but not to say that the inexpensive gear won't serve.

Here's a PCI capture card if your camcorder has s-video out instead of the basic audio left, audio right and video. You still need an audio card. Note the unhappy reviews.

And you can look at Tiger's other capture cards. And there's more user reviews for most cards here.

I have Dazzle http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSit...o/Dazzle/?dz=1 which costs $49.99 but you can hook ANYTHING up to that. You hit play on the camera and record on the dazzle software and it turns it into avi. It uses USB and can be quite handy (though the editing software isn't that great. Free editors are much better.) A pc tuner card may be another option.

I will take your word on that. I have dealt with cheap things before and that kinda stuff always happens. 69 bucks isn't pricey i just was just going to see how cheap i can get without it...well going to crap. Thanks a lot for the help. I think i will stick with the "pricey one" lol

Does anyone else have any reviews on this Dazzle? I am trying to read more about it, but I personally trust the guys on TG. So does anyone else know about it?
