Do I need a new Video Card?
I just rencently purchased some animation software. I created an animated character and exported it as an animated gif file. The file is distorted.....very poor image quality. Does this mean I need an new video card? If so, can you recommend one for 3d animation?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

what is your computer? brand/model, or custome built? and yes what type of video card is in it now? what brand/model#?

distorted graphics dont necessarily mean bad video card, it could be you didnt tweak or setup the correct settings on the card.

first question I would ask is ....What software did you purchase?

then ... how did you save it and at what compression was it saved at when exported

can you post it here using the attachment feature in the post reply window...

Hi buck52,

I purchased iClone 2.0. The file exceeds the limit allowed for files to be uploaded on this forum, so I can't upload it. Thanks.

Peter,

My computer is equipped with the integrated ATI Radeon x200 IGP graphics engine, with a PCI Express slot for graphic card upgrades. Thanks.

I have an emachine T6410, with an AMD Athlon processor, 512 MB, 160GB hard drive.
It's equipped with a ATI Radeon X200 IGP graphics engine, with a PCI Express slot included for upgrading.

buck52,

I saved the file as an animated gif. I'm not sure at what compression it was saved. At what compression should it be saved?

of course you'll get a poor image quality, because gif files are for small pictures or animated, look at someones avatars around, they use gif files. If you really want better animation quality, you should try adobe flash professional.
