Photoshop CS2 not responding
Hi I have Windows XP version 2002 service pack 2 with a pentium 4 and 1Gig memory. I have installed Photoshop CS2 version 9.0, and it appears to open OK, except that it consumes 48 to 50% of CPU time, and when I open the task manager, Photoshop is not responding. I have tried several times to re-install, with the same result.

After you uninstall but before you reinstall you can try running CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ to delete any temporary installation folders left behind and any registry entries that didn't get cleared out from the uninstall.

Also disable any security software you might have running while you are installing.

At what point does Photoshop stop responding - can you read the loaded component on the Photoshop splash screen?

As soon as photoshop opens, the task manager shows 48 to 50% cpu usage. The pallettes and toolbar appear ok, but as soon as I click anywhere within the PS window, the egg timer appears and nothing happens.

Hi Thanks for your assistance. just reset my preferences, with no impact to the fault. I followed the instructions and deleted the preferences file, and restarted PS. as soon as it opened it was "not responding"

You didn't have PS open while you deleted the prefs file no?

Other things you could try: delete any added fonts from Windows Font folder, uninstall/delete any added plugins, update your video card driver.
