Exclamation Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0
eMachines Model W3619, Windows Vista Home Basics

Turned on my computer this morning and noticed the external hard drive had been switched to another drive? It was plugged into J drive and now it is switched to F. I also noticed that the desktop icon for Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 showed a different icon (you know, the one when the application is not available). I tried to uninstall and reinstall the Photoshop Elements application but got the following error message:

"Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 Setup
Error 1324. The path My Albums contain an invalid character."

the next question would be... have you tried installing it on a built in drive?

Right, sorry about that, heres what you can do to fix it.

> The simple thing to do would be to just simply re-insall Adobe photoshop onto a local hard disk drive. - It should then all work

-However unless you will still have all the old files of photoshop on your external hard drive - so you will have to open up the external hard drive and locate the files then delete them to solve that problem. - unless you don't mind them being there ofcourse.

>The other thing you can do is change the external hard drive's letter back to J.
Now with this, I am not sure wheather the Vista procedure of changing it is the same as with XP (the OS I know about) - also I am not at my computer - i am out at the moment, so I cannot be sure if what i am telling you is entirly correct, but you can do no harm with just trying what i sugest below.

Right off the top of my head;
>Click Start
>Right click my computer
>Click Manage
>In the window, on the left, scroll down to disk management
>on the right of the window, find where you external hard drive is listed, and right click it's partition, you should see 'Change drive letter'
>Put J back into the field.

-If you don't see this, say and I will look it up when i get home in a few hours.
-If you do, good, and supodivly you are just a simple restart of the computer away from your problems being resolved.

Hope this helps you

This is what I did before I read your response: I restored the computer to the lastest available date. This brought the Adobe Photoshop Elements to its original state before going haywire. I uninstalled then reinstalled Adobe Photoshop. Up to now, I've not had any more problems with "Error 1324".

Restoring my computer also brought up the drive in its original location. I did take your advice and reinstalled Adobe Photoshop Elements onto my hard drive to prevent any future problems. I resorted to only using the external hard drive to save completed work on projects.

BTW...thanks for helping me out. I work on advertising and pr campaigns for clients and would hate to know all my hard work was destroyed. Thank you for having this website up : )

If you change the drive letter back to what it was then it should work again.

Adobe PE6. My opinion? AAARRRRGGGHHHHH. Nothing but problems. I'm not new to photosoftware have had quit a number of various brands. Just got ver. 6 the other day. Adobe has no patches for the problems it has. It seems to me there are so many that Adobe is walking away from it. Some of their solutions include modifying the register to the point if you are not a computer guru, DON'T try it.

IMHO most of the photo software on the retail market is not that good unless you spend upwards of $250-300 for it.

It seems that most users have a love/hate relationship with their photo software. For me APE 6 is a loser.

Are you meaning that towards every version of Photoshop?
