Avatar animation
Hey all. I was wondering how you get your avatar to be animated. I believe there is a trick that one has to do. I ran across this in a different forum quite some time ago but I've forgotten what I did. The one I have is animated but when I uploaded it, it just shows as a basic solid picture with no animation. Any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

I suspect your only problem is file size.
An avatar on TSG can be no bigger than 50 by 50 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller). Any animated gif will work so long as it is no larger than the aforementioned, if one larger was uploaded I think all that will be shown is one frame of the animation.

i'd suggest you contact Ciberblade 'bout this....i'm sure there are many others who know the trick, but he's helped many members here in the past.....

you'd also get more help on the tech side of the site, so i'll move this for you.

Can you attach your animated gif file here ...
It needs resized to no more than 50x50 pixels.
or 65x65 if you've donated to support TSG

Well it turns out that my original image is 60X80. I resized it to 50X50 and it then lost it's animation. Now I'm stumped.

[size="3"]I also just noticed that in my profile, under Signature Permissions, it states Can upload images for Signature = No and Can upload Animated GIF for Signature = No. All others say yes. Here is my original.

When you donate to support TSG .. You can use this one.
Make sure you get my original gif upload.
If you're using IE .. You may have to Email it to yourself to get the gif.

Hey Noyb, Thanks for your help but we still have the same issue. I mailed it to myself but somewhere along the way I lost the animation again. Any ideas?

I just saved it another way but I can't upload it. When I save your version, it saves as 42.1k in size. Thus to big to upload. Close but no cigar. Also might the two denials in my profile for uploading GIF animated pics have anything to do with it? Thanks again Noyb for the assistance.

What's the file size limit for your avatar upload ??
Guest members are less than donated members ... I can't see the limit for your guest membership.
Just saw that the bigger Avatar is also too big.
You have too many frames in the animation.

Maybe I can reduce the file size .. Tomorrow.

It says the forum limit is 19.5k. The one you made is 42.1k. Quite a difference. Might have to check my old one and see if it is smaller. Also what about those two denials?
