Scanner problem
I run Windows XP Home. I also run an HP SCanjet 3500c. This combination has worked well until five days ago. The HP Director comes up and the 'Make Copies' button works fine. But both 'scan' buttons generate error message "an error occurred communicationg with scanning device.
But if I go into Adobe Photoshop I can 'IMPORT' a scan from the scanjet. But I want to scan to WORD and be able to edit a text page.

I have been through everything - re-installation, uninstalling, restarting etc, etc. I have back-tracked to see what I have done to the system in the last few days but I cannot unearth anything.

Please can anyone shed any light on why I'm getting this problem.

this may be of some use to you here
have look at the solve a problem bit, and try getting some new drivers for it.
if that doesnt work check your cable and ports just to be on the safe side.

Can't do that with HP's OCR or even Photoshop.
Sounds like your TWAIN driver is OK.

I assume you have M$ Office ??? ..
See M$ Office Tools .. M$ Office Document Scanning.
Scan it from there.

Or scan it with PS at 600dpi and save as a tiff.
Then M$ Office Imaging can read the tiff ... OCR
