Angry Photodeluxe Install problem
hello,
my computer is a laptop with windows xp, ie 6.0, core2duo processor and is about 1 year old.
I came across a cd copy of adobe photodeluxe 3.0 and made the mistake of installing it lastnight. once installed it seemed to work fine buy when i went to put the computer into hibernation i get an error message saying that the computer cannot be put into hibernation (also happens with standby) the error message reads as follows.
" The device driver for the 'Standard 101/102 key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard' device is preventing the machine from entering hibernation. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver."

During the install there was something adobe program installed having to do with keyboard font or something.
so far i called adobe and they said, they no longer support photodeluxe. gateway was helpful and suggested try system restore, i tried a couple different dates to restore to and it said it couldnt restore back to that date.

my first question does any one know if photodeluxe is compatible with windows XP? ( it seems that it may be designed for 98 but i am not sure.)
I have not tried re-installing the keyboard driver yet. that is a possibility
I uninstalled the photodeluxe 3.0 but still wont allow my puter to enter into hibernation or standby.

thanks for any help.

Try to enable that in the bios under the power management section.

In answer to your first question, as far as I can recall, when XP was new Adobe PD Home tested as incompatible. In any event, I gave up trying to run it on XP long ago although I still use it regularly on 98SE because it's a good program. Don't think I ever tried running it in compatability mode on XP.
The Help section advises uninstalling it with Add/Remove in Control Panel Settings but I notice that there is an uninstall section at the bottom of the headings for the program itself. You might consider reinstalling and then uninstalling it again.
Good luck!

FYI. I use PhotoDeluxe 3.0 on my WindowsXP computer. While it doesn't work as well with XP as it did when I ran Windows98, it will work with XP. Since I don't use the Hibernation Function, having Adobe Type manager installed has never been a problem for me. Maybe I'll try uninstalling Type Mananger and see if that peps up PhotoDeluxe a bit.

Smile Photo Deluxe Will Work With XP
I have been using Photo Deluxe 3.1 with Windows Me for several years then I upgraded to Windows Xp and installed Photo Deluxe 3.1 . The program works flawlessly with XP if you install it using Windows 98 or Me compatibility.

Ok, a dumb question. How do I install a program with 98 or Me compatibility? I am trying to reinstall PhotoDeluxe 3.0 for my wife (who loves the program) but I can't get it to run under XP.

Edit: Ok, I went to the properties screen and tried all of the compatibility modes. It did not help. The program starts to load but during the initializing sequence it just disappears. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks
Ray

Re-Photo Deluxe Install
Place the photo deluxe CD in the rom drive. If it auto runs cancel the auto run. Open My Computer and right click on Photo Deluxe (D) drive or the drive you used. Click on Explore then right click Setup.exe. Setuo window will appear. Now click on the Compatibility Tab. Set it for Windows 98 or Me then click apply then click ok. Now go back and run Setup. Do not auto run. Hope this helps worked great with my Windows Xp.

Thanks for the suggestion compaqguy200. I tried that but unfortunately with the same result. Photo Deluxe shuts down during the initialization process.

Best

Try this.
In My Computer click on the + sign of the "Optical drive the CD is in".
Click on the + sign of "Adobe".
Click on the + sign of "English".
Click on "Install".
Click on "Setup...Application".

Thanks Raised Grain. I think the folders on my set up disk must be different than yours. But I think I had the jist of what you did. Unfortunately, nothing seems to want to work for me. I even tried installing it in Safe Mode but that didn't work either. I am coming to the conclusion that my wife is going to have to learn another program. Thanks for the help

Have you used a registry cleaner. If not here is a great free program I use about once a week..The first time I used it I cleaned out over 1000 registry files on my computer..It's a simple, user-friendly interface with which you can safely repair invalid entries in your Windows Registry. Improves your Windows PC’s overall performance and stability.

http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_...ry_cleaner.htm

Before running the registry cleaner completely uninstall Adobe Photo through Add/Remove programs. Once removed go into programs and delete the Adobe Photo Deluxe folder. Now run the registry cleaner to clean out your old files and then try to reinstall Adobe by the above method.

Photodeluxe, great little program imo. Much easier and quicker to use than the other Photoshops and Gimp and does a good job imo. I do remember it was a PIA to install in XP, but now the only problem that I get is that it's a pain to use in the limited user account as I still get a PU that the EPS parser plugin is not installed (even though it is) but I just bypass it and it still seems to work ok. (If I remember correctly) if you don't export (uncheck it) to clipboard it helps photodeluxe to run in XP. One of the reason I still use it, is that it's simple and quick to navigate it's GUI. Some things I haven't been able to figure out about it all these years is,1) If you export to JPG does it export to 100%? and 2) I wish it had a square eraser tool to go with the round ones, and 3) is there any way to erase in an exact straight line?

JRX10....Yes when you export to JPG it does export to 100%...Yes you can erase in a straight line...Normally what I do is make a straight outline around the area I want to erase and then just radically erase the inside area.
To erase in a straight line there are a couple ways to do it...The easiest way I have found is to click on the proper size eraser you want to use then hold down your Shift key. When you get to a corner release and reclick your mouse..
Hope this helps..

Just saw this and tried it. I couldn't get the reclick to work, but if I take the eraser tool to the corner, and continue to hold the mouse (left) down then after, press & hold the shift key down, then drag the mouse in the direction I want to erase, It'll erase in a straight line either horizontally or vertically. If I pull it off-center it doesn't matter... It'll probably work fine with the shift/lock. I only use it when I'm combining 2 horizontally small pics on a 4x3 or 16x9 ratio background for slide shows and need to crop out a background part of top slice covering an essential part of the bottom slice, and need to erase along a small overlay black spacer. One or two vertical passes with the small solid eraser tool then I use the larger non-solid eraser tool to erase the rest.....thx
