Camcorder MiniDV importing software?
I currently have a Sony MiniDV dcr-hc38.
I am using the Sony supplied software to stream the data from the tape onto my pc.
I am streaming via a firewire cable.

It is such a crappy program IMO and I am wondering if there is something else out there for me to use that may work better.
I do have all the hardware requirements, it just seems the video takes FOREVER and its choppy as hell.

Freeware or standard software.
Remember this is ONLY for the importing side of things.

I use scenalyzer---excellent software. I am not sure what the fee is as I have not been on the site for years. Why don't you just capture with Windows Movie Maker--

I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 for capturing from Mini DV and also doing the editing of avi video files. AP Pro CS3 has a scene detect, which scenalyzer offer (been used this also before).
