Had error in import of pics, now can't find them
The other day I wanted to dump my pictures from my digital camera unto the computer(Gateway PC with Vista Home Premium). So I stuck the SD card in the slot on my pc. Like normal the popup came up asking me what I wanted to do with them. I selected import and also checked the box to delete the photos off the SD card after they finished importing(bad idea!-don't normally select that either). They would normally then dump into my Pictures folder. While the pictures were importing an error popped up saying I believe something to the effect of it couldn't read a certain file and I selected to skip it one time. Have never had this come up before. The pictures on the card were taken on 2 different days. The first day of pictures imported just fine. The second day of pictures, were obviously the error and now I can't find them anywhere. I'm thinking they have to be somewhere on my computer, even if it isn't the obvious spots, but where?? I downloaded the trial "File Recovery" program and I haven't been able to find it that way. I can't find them on the SD card. I tried doing a search of all of the files, but nothing obvious is coming up. I have Windows Photo Gallery on my pc and tried looking through those folders. I usually use HP Photosmart Essentials to view and print my pictures though. Any ideas on where else I can look, maybe where I should look again or what else can I do?? I feel like I'm looking for a needle in a haystack.

DON'T DO ANYTHING WITH YOUR CARD YET !

Not even taking a picture.

If you can't find them on your PC, you'll need to run a photo rescue application on your card. I use THIS ONE

On your PC do a search for jpg (jpeg) and narrow down the date parameters to the last few days. This will give you a more defined result. Failing that, chances are they're not there.
