Question Decent free slideshow makers?
Does anyone know of any decent free slideshow makers? I'd like one I can use to produce a few slideshows that I can send to people of photos I've taken. It has to be able to resize the images in order to make slideshows small enough for emailing without me having to resize every image in another editing program beforehand.

I've already produced one a few months ago, but forgot what I used.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Irfanview can do all that for you.

Windows Movie Maker will work great for slideshows. Import you photos, drag them to the timeline and add transitions.

remember to make sure people are able to open the Slide shows, so that they are not in a format that people can not open. i have never used "Irfanview" so dont want to comment but windows movie maker is good and i use it alot because most people can open the final file

Here is something I found recently Foto2Avi
http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareFoto2Avi.php?b2=1

If you want something that need only play on computers, Irfanview does a good job.

If you want to add effects and what not, windows movie maker offers a lot of options, although you are then limited to viewing your slideshow on the windows platform.

I have recently been playing around and have created a website for my students. If you have a little time I would greatly appreciate it if you could take a look and let me know what you think and give me some ideas.

Irfanview will create a slide show in VCD (Video CD) format that's playable in most DVD players, although I've never tried it.

Thats true, but you need nero.

Quote from Irfanview help files:

"If you have Nero Burning ROM (full or demo version, NO OEM) installed, you can burn the slideshow to CD (Data CD) or create a Video CD (VCD). You must also install the Nero PlugIn for IrfanView first."

You can probably export the slideshow as a video and burn it with something else.

I like Microsoft Photostory, you can zoom in/out on the pictures, add music, edit and add other effects....the end result is a Windows Media file (.wmv), the file size can be kept low depending on what effects you add...but it really brings you pictures to LIFE.
