Canon Mini DV wont transfer to computer via 1394?
I have a Canon Mini DV ZR50MC and am trying to capture to my laptop (Inspiron 9400) XP Windows via 1394 firewire connection. When connected, computer reconizes camera, allows play (only visible on cam LCD), FF, REW, Pause, Stop, Etc. however when it attempts to capture video I get an (Unknown Error has occured), I know no help! I've tried XP movie maker, Sonic, Nero, and a few others, all with the same result. Camera & firewire both check out on another PC. Does anyone know what I can do to correct this problem? I have to use this laptop in the field for video editing purposes?

This strikes me as more of a driver issue than a software problem per se, as you state the camera works on another PC.

Try asking the question on the HARDWARE forum.
